Custom Domain Mapping to Teletype

Teletype allows you to set domains to all blogs where you are an administrator. If you do not have a domain, then you can buy it through our partner registrar godaddy.com.

Step 1: Configure DNS Domain Records

Teletype should understand which domain you want to set to journal, so you need to add a DNS record in the domain settings, either A-Record or CNAME — depending on the domain level.

• journal.yourdomain.com — for subdomains update your CNAME record to domains.teletype.in (recommended)
• yourdomain.com — to use a second-level domain, you need to set its A-record to 51.254.7.42

Check this out. Remove AAAA records from the domain, we don't support IPv6 yet. Do not add both DNS records at once.

Save the changes. It may take up to 72 hours for the changes to take effect (but usually it's fast).

Step 2. Set Domain to Your Journal

1. Log in to your journal.
2. Open the settings.
3. Find the 'Custom Domain Name' option and type your domain in the enter your domain field.
4. Click Map Now.
5. Done.

If something goes wrong, the system will tell you what to do.
